Das Porträt erlebt in der zeitgenössischen Kunst eine faszinierende Neuauslegung. Heute reflektieren künstlerische Ansätze die Komplexität und Vielfalt menschlicher Identität und gesellschaftlicher Kontexte. Ein zentrales Merkmal dabei ist das Spiel mit Identität und Selbstwahrnehmung. Das Porträt ist weit mehr als die Abbildung eines Gesichts. Es ist ein vielschichtiges Medium, das Identität, Gesellschaft und die aktuelle Welt reflektiert.

What is paradise? A place of peace? An idea of happiness? Or a memory, romanticized by time and longing?
The exhibition ParaDiesDas opens up an associative space in which 27 artists from the class of Professor Macketanz at the Dresden University of Fine Arts explore the meaning of „paradise.“
The works oscillate between figuration and abstraction, between dream and reality. They speak of nature and humanity, of animals and symbols, of places that might exist – or have long been forgotten. Recurring motifs and a dominant blue create visual connections – and yet each work stands on its own. What emerges is a diversity in dialogue: inspired by one another, shaped by a sense of community.
